Wahdan, Sam

Hailing from Aberdare at the head of the Cynon Valley, Sam travelled to Resolven and Merthyr to play his junior rugby, and progressing to the Merthyr youth team. Progression up the age groups saw Sam join up with Pontypridd under 17s and then on to the Pontypridd Academy.

Gaining international honours with Wales at under 18 and FIRA under 19 levels, Sam was drafted into the Celtic Warriors regional Academy, and represented UWIC in the first division, where he had enrolled to study sports development.

Having played games on permit for Llanharan in the premiership during the 2004/2005 season, Sam was selected for the Wales under 21 party which contested the World Cup tournament in Argentina during the summer of 2005.

At the commencement of the 2005/2006 season Sam returned to his rugby roots, joining up with the Pontypridd RFC senior squad.

Sam was seconded to the Llanharan team for most of the season, and in February 2006, made the move a permanent one.
