A gathering of the great and the good

A gathering of the great and the good

The Pontypridd Former Players' Association held an end of season luncheon at Sardis Road on Saturday 28th May, the sell-out event being a gathering of the great and the good and thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended.

The luncheon was laid out in the Grandstand Lounge with a mix of former players, supporters, sponsors and guests in attendance.

Master of Ceremonies Peter Johnson introduced guest speaker, former Wales and British Lions scrum half Brynmor Williams, and held an interesting question and answer session with former Ponty icon Tom David and current coach Rob Sidoli, both giving their forthright views on rugby issues past and present.

A quiz was organised with everyone involved and the 'last man standing' receiving a valuable wrist watch. The event concluded with an auction of a framed autographed photograph of the famous 1971 Barbarian team that defeated New Zealand which was donated by Tommy David, and a raffle.

The socialising continued into the early evening with all proceeds from the event  donated by the FPA to Pontypridd RFC.
